CreditAccess entered the Philippine market in 2014. We selected the Philippines as it has over 80% of households which are unbanked, the majority of which are self-employed, working for a private household or farm, or in other informal occupations. These self-employed households are mainly MSE’s, which do not have access to formal capital.

We have experienced rapid growth of our start-up in a short space of time and have become one of the top ten Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) in the Philippines, operating through our trading name CreditAccess Philippines Financing Company Inc. (Local brand name OnePuhunan). We provide simple, convenient and accessible credit products to MSE’s in the Philippines. It is a fast growing NBFC with a vision of being a market leader in providing relevant financial products to its customer base.

Micro businesses: self-employed households, often women who operate retail shops, sell agricultural or handcraft products or provide commercial services, earn USD 5 – 10 per day and mostly live in rural areas
Small businesses: formal household businesses, or small-scale enterprises, with monthly income over USD 300 and a more solid collateral base compared to micro business customers, which typically cannot offer hard collateral or undergo the bureaucratic process requested by banks
